Sending an Autoresponder Welcome Email

What is an autoresponder email?

In email marketing lingo, an autoresponder is a series of emails, usually focused on a specific topic, delivered in a pre-determined sequence at pre-determined intervals. Autoresponder emails are used in just about every industry with varying results. The most common autoresponder message is that of the Welcome Email. It is most commonly sent as soon as a prospect signs up and becomes a lead. Check out this survey of most often-used autoresponder emails:

As you can see, the Welcome Email is at the top of the list. Stats also show that Welcome Emails are exceptionally effective at engaging your leads, which is not surprising considering they have just signed up on one of your pages.

How to send a Welcome Email with LeadSanity.

LeadSanity allows you to easily set up a Welcome Email that automatically goes out to all your subscribers the second they sign up. And it’s all included in our Guru ($9.95/m) and Hero ($19.95/m) plans. Unlimited leads and unlimited emails. It is important to note that in order to send out a Welcome Email via LeadSanity, your leads have to be going into your admin panel. So you cannot, for example, send your leads into MailChimp and send an autoresponder using LeadSanity. In that case MailChimp itself would be used for that purpose. In other words, to use our Autoresponder feature, you will have to use our “My Leads” section:

Ok, now that we have established some ground rules, let’s explore a simple way to send Welcome Emails. The first thing you want to do is navigate to the “Autoresponders” section in your admin panel.

Once there, you want to create a brand new Autoresponder email. This email will later be your Welcome Email. Click on the link you see below:

When you click on it, you will be presented with a page that looks like the following. Please note that I have filled in all the fields. You should do the same based on your requirements:

Notice the use of variable |firstname|. When the email goes out, that variable will get replaced with the first name of the subscriber. Once you’re happy with what you have put in, click “Save Autoresponder”.

Now your objective is to link this Welcome Email up with a form on one of your pages. Let’s assume that you already have a page that you want to start running traffic to. What you need to do is create a form on it and set it up so the leads go to your LeadSanity admin panel and get the Welcome Email you just created.

Navigate to the “My Leads” section. Here, either create a new list or use one of your existing lists to get the form code for it.

It’s quite self-explanatory from here, but below is a quick video of how to link up the form code with the Welcome Email autoresponder.

Once you click the Get Form Code button, a popup appears from which you can copy the form code to use on your page. You can see how to do that by watching the short video below. The video covers a slightly different, but related, subject. But it shows you how to use the generated form code on your pages to capture leads.

This covers it. Oh, but the way, here is a screenshot of the Welcome Email I created above sent to a test lead I used to sign up on my page:

Hope you enjoy using the new feature. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us using your support page or simply leave a question in the comments below.

Thank you.

  • I love it. Really easy to set up. Using it every day on my leads. One question though: can I schedule more emails to go out in the future to my leads.

    • Hi Nancy. We only have the Welcome Autoresponder at this point in time. Depending on the interest it gets, we may be building it out to include an email drip system. Thank you for you interest.
